History 

     Closed Corporation "TITAN Association" was founded in 1991 on the initiative of leading enterprises - manufacturers of titanium products, and industrial institutes.

     CSC "TITAN Association" has played an important role in the industrial groups of CIS countries, especially during the period of heavy recession of production and consumption of Titanium products in 1990-ies during Perestroika and economical reforms after USRR break-up.

     During these years the Board of Directors and the Executive Directors focused on:

• Marketing investigations of the world's market for Titanium products,
• Co-ordination of Quality-oriented activities of the Mills and Institutes of Titanium industry,
• Development of a single technical policy to improve quality and competitiveness of the products,
• Co-ordination of group members' activities on R&D and publishing.

     Due to a sharp decline of output of Titanium products and their consumption by the defense-oriented industries, the areas of Titanium consumption have been reviewed, and the emerging applications of Titanium have been identified. With an active support of members' experts, we developed programmes of development of the industry's raw material base, technical improvement and refurbishment of main manufacturers' production facilities, widening of Titanium application areas, and reduction of its production costs.

     A ten-year activity of "Titan Association" resulted in maintaining of production, scientific, and personnel potential of the industry.
