A. Mamonov, Yu. Chernyshova, A. Safaryan, V. Karpov, S. Sarychev
Comparative study was dedicated to the effect of thermal-hydrogen treatment and vacuum ion-plasmous nitriding on structure, corrosion properties and microhardness of Zr-2.5Nb zirconium alloy and VT210 titanium alloy as materials for medical implants. It was shown that such complex technology raised significantly stationary potentials and decreased current density for passive state in 0.9% aqueous solution of NaCl for the both of the alloys; it also raised breakdown potential of the zirconium alloy and increased microhardness of the surface to 1.5-2 times. The effect of nitriding temperature on corrosion resistance characteristics of the zirconium alloy was defined.

The effect of the structure obtained at the different modes of thermal-hydrogen treatment (THT) on the complex of short-term and long-term mechanical properties of Ti-9.4Al-2.3Mo-1.8Zr-0.16Si alloy was studied in this work.
It was shown that the structures formed after THT possessed the two structural constituents of α-phase and provided stability of plastic characteristics and impact toughness after 100-hour holding at the temperatures of 600-700°C.

Effect of heat treatment on structure and mechanical properties of plate from vti-4 intermetallic alloy
S. Skvortsova, O. Umarova, E. Agarkova, A. Chernyshova
In this work the effect of heat treatment on structure and mechanical properties of a plate with the thickness of 40 mm from heat-resistant alloy based on Ti2AlNb intermetallide was investigated. It was shown that changing temperature and cooling rate allowed to obtain satisfactory plasticity in a semi-finished product at a different level of strength due to change of structural constituents size.

Research on structure of titanium wire obtained by high-temperature gas extrusion
N. Nochovnaya, V. Vaganov, P. Panin, A. Shiryaev, V. Berbentsev, A. Aborkin
A comparative quality analysis of high-strength titanium wire has been accomplished, the wire having been obtained by different techniques such as drawing (for VT16 alloy) and high-temperature gas extrusion (HTGE, for VT14 alloy). The microstructure of VT14 extruded wire and distribution of structure constituents in longitudinal section of the butt-end have been investigated. Also structural and phase transformations which occur in deformation zone upon HTGE wire production have been observed. In conclusion, the prospects of HTGE method for high-strength titanium wire production have been shown.

Smelting of the nitrogen-bearing V-Al-Ti alloys in the crystallizer of the electroslag furnace
A. Larionov, V. Chumarev, A. Rylov, M. Trubachev, S. Vohmentsev
The possibility of the nitrogen-bearing V-Al-Ti alloys smelting in the crystallizer of the electroslag furnace using aluminum nitride as nitrifying material was studied. Inter-relation between titanium or its oxide TiO2 content in the charge and an utilization factor of the AlN was determined. It was shown, that the nitrogen-bearing alloys obtained by the method of the electroslag melting of the metallic and the metal-oxide charges satisfy the requirements for alloying titanium materials in chemical, phase composition and structure.

A full metallurgical cycle for manufacturing hot-deformed titanium tubes (ingot-blank-tube) was organized as a result of FSUE CRISM “Prometey” and JSC “Chepetskiy Mechanical plant” joint work.
At JSC “Chepetskiy Mechanical plant” developed were unique technologies for manufacturing titanium ingots, titanium blanks and high-quality hot-deformed titanium tubes for nuclear-power engineering and shipbuilding products. Normative documents for tube manufacturing were also developed and agreed.
The results of conducted activities made it possible for FSUE CRISM “Prometey” to confirm readiness of JSC “Chepetskiy Mechanical plant” enterprise which is a part of JSC “Tvel” corporation for commercial production of high-quality tubes made of titanium alloys for nuclear-power engineering and shipbuilding products.
