Extension of service life of seagoing vehicles structures made of titanium alloys
A. Oryshchenko, V. Leonov, V. Mikhailov, I. Sakharov
The operation of marine structures shows a great number of cases where the specified lifetime is not so long as their operating life, especially for hull structures. This fact brings up an issue of the service life extension of the above structures.
The paper reports the results of examination and inspection for likely defects of the most heavily loaded submersible hull assembly units by nondestructive testing methods. The hull is made of Ti-Al-V alloy and was in operation for 20 years. Besides, the paper gives the results of crack formation on a porthole coaming.
The results of investigations make it possible to extend the specified lifetime of submersible titanium hull after its long-term operation.

Computer modelling of real structure of titanium alloys at research of deformation and destruction processes. Part 1
A. Musienko, V. Leonov, I. Kozlova, D. Panotskiy
By means of the finite-element method (FEM) and a phenomenological crystal plasticity theory a series of calculations was realized for model and real elements of two-phase titanium alloys. Comparison of computation results end pre-existing mesurements of local strain nonheterogeneities was performed. Calculated fields of strains and stresses are presented as well as the comparison of various micro-structures on the basis of deformation energy.
Keywords: titanium alloys, computational crystal plasticity.

V. Leonov, B. Ushakov, A. Kochergin, K. Кhromushkin
This article is devoted to problems which may appear in using of titanium alloys in threaded fixtures. On the basis of the carried out investigations it is shown that in order to solve the problem of reliable operation of threaded fixtures made of titanium alloys it is necessary to create favorable contact conditions for fixture couples in tightening. Results of experimental investigations concerning application of different kinds of industrial and experimental lubricants аrе presented in this article along with comparative data on advantages and deficiencies of these lubricants.

V. Leonov, V. Kopylov, L. Rtishcheva, M. Shtutsa, V. Smirnov, Yu. Karpov
In order to fill orders for shipbuilding and to provide nuclear power engineering equipment with high-quality titanium tubes their production should be brought to a commercial level at the Russian plants.
Federal State Unitary Enterprise Central Research Institute of Structural Materials (FSUE CRISM) «Prometey» has analyzed the state of domestic enterprises capable of producing titanium alloy tubes. Performance evaluation criteria for the plants included the equipment available, the level of technical and technological support, skilled staff and experience in organizing the production of high-quality cold-worked tubes.
Relying on the analysis of the above criteria, they selected an enterprise meeting the requirements specified for the relevant activities, namely, JSC «Chepetsky Mechanical Plant (ChMP)», Glazov, included in JSC «TVEL» (Fuel Company of Rosatom).
They developed a unique process of producing titanium ingots, hot-pressed titanium billets and high-quality titanium tubes with using a copper coating as a «sublubricating» layer for nuclear power engineering and shipbuilding at JSC «ChMP». Normative documents for tube making have been developed and agreed.
The results of testing cold-worked spiral ribbed tubes and small-sized tubes in FSUE CRISM «Prometey» have been presented.
Relying on the results of investigations, FSUE CRISM «Prometey» confirmed the readiness of JSC «ChMP» for the commercial production of high-quality titanium alloy tubes to be used in nuclear power engineering and shipbuilding.
