The choice of a new high-temperature titanium alloy composition via mathematical simulation techniques
N. Nochovnaya, V. Antashev, A. Shiryaev, E. Alexeev
Both actual state-of-the-art in mathematical simulation of physical and mechanical properties and scope of the advanced high-temperature titanium alloys have been analyzed.
Chemical composition of a pilot high-temperature alloy has been chosen and blade workpieces have been fabricated thereof. Mechanical properties have been determined on blade samples after a pre-set heat treatment mode. The analysis of the obtained results has revealed that from the point of view of the mechanical properties level the new alloy is not inferior to both domestic and foreign equivalents and even exceeds them in some certain characteristics. The comparison of calculated data to experimental results gives evidence to a good correlation of the investigated characteristics.
Keywords: high-temperature titanium alloys, chemical composition, mathematical simulation, mechanical properties.

Radical-generating ability of titanium wear particles and some titanium alloys
V. Bulgakov, N. Gavryushenko, D. Tetyukhin, E. Kozlov, A. Shalnev
Radical-generating ability of wear particles of implantable materials is their important characteristic. Wear particles of titanium and its alloys in different degree initiate radical formation. The most active are the wear particles of VT6 alloy and unalloyed titanium Grade 4, whereas particles of pure titanium VT1-0 are least active. The particles of titanium alloy Ti-6Al-7Nb exhibit intermediate activity. Wear particles of VT6 alloy gradually lose their radical-generating ability, which, after 30 and 90 days of storage is reduced in 2 and 4 times respectively. Identification of radical-generating ability of wear particles of titanium materials requires methods that reduce the impact of free radicals to the implant components and the biological tissue.
Keywords: titanium, titanium alloys, wear particles, free radicals, initiation rate, period of storage.

Researching of properties of welded joints titan-steel, obtained by diffusion welding through ultrafine nickel powder
A. Uvarov, A. Semenov, S. Novojilov, Y. Cherepnin, A. Lyushinsky, E. Nikitina
JSC "NIKIET" carried out experimental work on developing the technology diffusion welding austenitic steel 08Cr18Ni10Ti with titanium alloy PT-3V through an intermediate layer of ultrafine nickel. Made metallographic analysis of the welded joints. Welded samples were subjected to mechanical tensile tests.
Proved promising application of ultrafine powders for hardening of welded joints of steel and titanium alloys.

Structure and properties of electron-beam welded joints of sheet products commercially pure titanium VT1-0 is hardened by nitrogen from the gas phase during the arc-slag remelting
V. Saenko, G. Polishko, V. Riabinin, A. Tunik, S. Stepanyuk
In the paper shows that sheet products of СР-titanium BT1-0, hardened by nitrogen to 0.1 wt.% from gas phase during Arc-Slag Remelting (ASR) has more than 1.5 times the characteristics of strength compared to the requirements of ГОСТ 23755-79, herewith the characteristics of plasticity to keep the same. The established efficiancy of electron beam welding for equal of strength welded joints of sheet metal CP titanium ASR hardened by nitrogen from gas phase. As a result of X-ray analysis, established a uniform distribution of nitrogen, aluminum, iron, oxygen in titanium matrix as in the base metal CP - Titanium ASR and in the metal of electron-beam welded joints. Metallographic studies have shown that as a result of electron-beam welding received a quality weld without cracks, pores and other defects. Base metal and welded joints characterized by a homogeneous microstructure. Established sufficiently uniform distribution of hardness by Brinell and Vikers. In addition, the concentration of nitrogen in titanium to 0.1 wt.% solid inclusion complex, which are enriched with nitrogen is not found either in base metal or in the metal of electron-beam welded joint.
Keywords: commercially pure titanium, arc-slag remelting (ASR), hardened by nitrogen from the gas phase, sheet ingot ASR, sheet products, electron-beam welding, macrostructure, microstructure, mechanical properties of welded joints.

Theoretical development of metal conversion process – indirect and 3d-twist forming
A. Volkov
Metal conversion process of Indirect and 3D-Twist Forming is intended for manufacture of large weight metal stocks with submicrocrystalline and nanocrystalline structure. Use of cast long stocks with fine grain structure which may be heated by high rate electrical contact method is the most perspective for the Indirect and 3D-Twist Forming.
New trend in conversion will be especially relevant for creation of extra strong metals for aircraft engineering.

Investigation of reactive stress generated by implants from tini alloys
D. Gusev, M. Kollerov, A. Sharonov, S. Gurtovoiy
The important mechanical characteristic of working capacity of implants from NiTi alloys wits shape memory effect and superelasticity, namely reactive stresses, generated during the mechanical countered of the shape memory effect was investigated. It is shown that the level of reactive stresses, generated by implants, can be determined from deformation diagram of implants.
